    One of the most difficult parts of any fitness journey is changing your mindset around food. Cutting certain foods out  and incorporating new ones into your diet can be challenging for many people, and that's okay!     Who can resist the classic taste of an apple cider donut in the fall? We’ve got a healthy twist you’ll love—our Apple Cinnamon Protein Donut recipe! With no added sugar and 7 grams of protein per donut, it’s a guilt-free treat that packs in flavor. Made with our Cinna Crunch IsoMix, this recipe offers the perfect fall-inspired taste while supporting your protein goals. We’re confident you’ll enjoy every bite!

    Apple Cinnamon Protein Donuts

    ALL YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE

    • Apple Cider - To keep low sugar, look for no sugar added apple cider

    • Whole Wheat Baking Flour - Can sub for all-purpose baking flour, 1:1 GF flour, or blended oat flour

    • AstroFlav Cinna Crunch Protein Powder - Adds sweetness to this recipe as there are no added sugars in this donut recipe.

    • AstroFlav Vanilla Protein Powder - To replace some of the flour (and carbs) in this recipe for a slightly lower carb donut.

    • Cinnamon

    • Zero Sugar Brown Sugar

    • Almond Milk: Or any other reduced fat milk; best when used at room temperature.

    • Non-fat Greek Yogurt

    • Coconut oil: Can sub with melted butter.

    • Egg

    KITCHEN EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR THIS RECIPE

    • Medium & large mixing bowl

    • Donut tray

    TIPS FOR CREATING THESE PROTEIN DONUTS

    • Be careful not to over-mix the batter! Gently fold the dry ingredients to avoid a dense texture.

    • Grease the donut pan thoroughly to prevent sticking after baking.

    • Ensure your mixture has enough moisture. If it's too dry, add a little more almond milk.

    • Let the donuts cool slightly before adding the cinnamon sugar topping.

    • Store the donuts in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge.

    • Donuts will last about 5 days in the fridge or 2-3 days on the countertop.

    Apple Cinnamon Protein Donuts


    INGREDIENTS:  

    • 1 1/2 cup Apple Cider, 360g

    • 3/4 cup Whole Wheat Pastry Flour, 90g

    • 2/3 cup AstroFlav Cinna Crunch IsoMix, 60g

    • 1/4 cup AstroFlav Vanilla IsoMix, 24g

    • 1 tsp Cinnamon

    • 1 tsp Baking Powder

    • 3/4 tsp Baking Soda

    • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk

    • 2 TBS Non-fat Plain Greek Yogurt

    • 1 TBS Coconut Oil, 14g

    • 1 Egg


    CINNAMON SUGAR TOPPING

    • 1 TBS Melted Coconut Oil, 14g

    • 2 TBS Zero Calorie Sugar sweetener (I used Splenda)

    • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

    DIRECTIONS:

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F and coat a 12-cavity donut pan with non-stick cooking spray.

    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the apple cider, almond milk, Greek yogurt, melted coconut oil, and egg.

    • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, Cinna Crunch IsoMix, Vanilla IsoMix, cinnamon, baking powder, and baking soda.

    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, gently folding with a large spoon until just combined. Avoid over-mixing the protein powder.

    • Evenly divide the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about ¾ full.

    • Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.

    • Allow the donuts to cool for about 5 minutes.

    • To make the topping, whisk together the sugar substitute and cinnamon.

    • Brush the tops of the donuts with melted coconut oil, then dip the top (or the entire donut) into the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

    Substitutes:

    • Whole Wheat Baking Flour: All purpose flour, 1:1 GF flour, or blended oat flour

    • Almond milk: Any milk of choice/preference

    • Greek Yogurt: Coconut yogurt

    • Zero Calorie Sugar Replacement: Regular sugar, Stevia, or Splenda will work

    Nutrition: 12 donuts

    Per 1 donut serving

    Calories = 85| Carbs: 11g|Protein: 7g|Fat: 7g
