Healthier You: Black Forest Protein Overnight Oats

Black Forest Protein Overnight Oats

ALL YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE

  • Oats - I used quick oats for this recipe. Old fashioned, GF, and steel cut can be used as well.

  • AstroFlav Chocolate IsoMix - essential chocolate taste for this Black Forest recipe

  • Cocoa powder - makes this Black Forest recipe taste even more like chocolate cake!

  • Chia seeds - adds a good source of fiber and healthy fats to this recipe

  • Almond milk - I used unsweetened vanilla, but any milk of choice will work!

  • Greek yogurt - for added protein and a bit of creaminess on top of the oats.

  • Fresh sliced cherries - cherries bring the whole black forest recipe together!

  • Chocolate chips - for a sweet chocolate shell on top

KITCHEN EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR THIS RECIPE

  • Glass jar or bowl

TIPS FOR CREATING OVERNIGHT OATS

  • Make sure dry ingredients and wet ingredients are combined very well to avoid clumps and/or dry protein powder in oats.

  • Place in fridge before you add Greek yogurt to allow oats to thicken up a bit. This way yogurt doesn't fall to the bottom of the oats.

  • Microwave chocolate chips in 30 second intervals to avoid chocolate from burning. May have to add a bit of coconut oil so the chocolate melts evenly.

  • I added cherries on top of the mixture, but you can also add them in the oats as well!

Black Forest Protein Overnight Oats


INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup quick oats

  • 1 scoop AstroFlav Chocolate IsoMix

  • 1 TBS cocoa powder

  • 2 TBS chia seeds

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt

  • 1/4 cup fresh cherries

  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS:

  • Combine oats, protein powder, cocoa powder, and chia seeds into a jar or bowl.

  • Pour in almond milk and stir until evenly combined.

  • Let mixture set for 5 minutes then stir again. This step helps prevent the oats and seeds from settling at the bottom of the jar.

  • Top oats with Greek yogurt to cover evenly and then place in refrigerator for 5-10 minutes.

  • Remove from fridge and drizzle melted chocolate over Greek yogurt layer until evenly covered. Top with cherries if desired.

  • Place in fridge overnight or at least 4 hours.

  • When ready to eat, grab from fridge and enjoy (best by cracking the chocolate shell)!
