One of the most difficult parts of any fitness journey is changing your mindset around food. Cutting certain foods out and incorporating new ones into your diet can be challenging for many people, and that's okay! Here at AstroFlav, we want to help you along your fitness journey by providing you with delicious (and healthy) recipes that will keep you dedicated to your fitness journey while allowing you to enjoy what you eat.
So, the name may be a little lengthy, but the Oreo and pumpkin combo is undefeated! Pumpkin Oreo Protein Cake Balls are on the Healthier You menu today and we are sure you are going to love this recipe! Highlighting Cookies & Cream IsoMix, these guys taste sweet like cake pops, but healthy! Keep scrolling for the recipe!
Oat flour: I blended up quick oats to make into oat flour.
Pumpkin purée: Make sure this is pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling.
AstroFlav Cookies & Cream IsoMix: I used this flavor to bring out the Oreo flavor; Can also sub for Vanilla.
Peanut butter: I used all natural creamy peanut butter. Can also sub with almond butter.
Honey: I have not tried the recipe with agave or maple syrup. Honey sticks the best for a better bind.
Chocolate chips: I used semi-sweet!
Coconut oil: To help melt the chocolate without burning in the microwave.
Crushed Oreos
Medium sized bowl
Cookie scoop
For a lower carb protein ball recipe, swap oat flour with 1.5 cups of almond flour.
Honey works best for this recipe as it helps the ingredients stick together.
Vanilla IsoMix and pumpkin pie spice would also be a great combo to enhance the pumpkin taste.
You may have to add in more protein powder little by little if the consistency is too wet.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the following ingredients: oats, protein powder, pumpkin, peanut butter, and honey.
Mix ingredients until well combined. You may need to add more protein powder if texture is too wet.
Place in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes to firm up.
Remove from fridge and begin to scoop protein batter with a cookie scoop or spoon.
Melt chocolate by placing in a microwave safe bowl with a tsp of coconut oil. Melt for 30 second intervals until smooth.
Drizzle chocolate over protein balls and sprinkle with crushed Oreos.
Place in fridge or freezer and take out when ready to be enjoyed!
Substitutes:
Oat flour: Can sub with 1.5 cup of almond flour
Honey: Can substitute with agave or maple syrup; may not be as sticky.
Cookies & Cream IsoMix: Vanilla IsoMix would taste great as well!
