Healthier You: Cinna Crunch Protein Donuts

It's time to bring the nostalgia of the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal bowl back into your morning! This week's Healthier You recipe calls for Cinna Crunch Protein Donuts which we can all agree might just be a new breakfast staple. These donuts are low in calorie and are super easy to whip up for a healthy, on-the-go breakfast or snack! With almost 7 grams of protein per serving, this recipe highlights one of our best-selling protein powders, Cinna Crunch, for a sweet protein-packed treat!

Cinna Crunch Protein Donuts

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup oat flour (50g)

  • 1 scoop AstroFlav Cinna Crunch protein powder

  • 1/2 cup calorie-free sweetener

  • 1/4 cup coconut flour (10g)

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (50g)

  • 1 container non-fat Greek yogurt (150g)

Protein Frosting:

  • 1 container non-fat Greek yogurt (150g)

  • 1/2 scoop Cinna Crunch protein powder

  • 3 TBS calorie-free sweetener

  • 3 TBS unsweetened almond milk

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350° and lightly grease donut pan to prepare.

  2. In a medium sized bowl, add dry ingredients: oat flour, protein powder, coconut flour, calorie-free sweetener, baking powder & cinnamon. Stir or whisk ingredients together.

  3. Add wet ingredients to mixture: egg, applesauce, and Greek yogurt. Mix until well combined, getting a batter-like consistency.

  4. Add the batter into a piping bag (or zip lock bag with the corner cut).

  5. Divide batter evenly amongst 8 donut molds.

  6. Place in oven and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. While the donuts are baking, mix up protein frosting in a small dish.

  8. Remove donuts from oven and let cool. Dip top of the donuts into the protein frosting and sprinkle with Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal & enjoy!

  • Serving size: 1 donut

    Calories: ≈ 66; Carbs: 7 grams; Fat: 1.2 grams; Protein: 6.7 grams

Recipe notes:

  • If the batter seems too thick, simply add a few tablespoons of almond milk to thin it out some.

  • If you do not have coconut flour, try the double amount of almond flour.

  • If you are vegan, swap the egg with a flax egg and use our VeganMix plant based protein!

Can I freeze these cheesecake bites?

Place cheesecake bites into a freezer safe bag or container and freeze up to 3 months.

Do I have to use a graham cracker crust?

Not at all! Cheesecake bites can be made without crusts or substituted with almond flour/oat flour!

Are these mini cheesecake bites healthy?

Yes! They are high in protein, low in fat, and the added Greek yogurt lighten them up (so you can have more than one at a time;)!
