    Hydration is Key: Water and Weight Loss

    Hydration is an essential tool to the functioning of the countless processes that take place in our brains and bodies. This blog post will highlight the key role hydration plays in the process of weight loss. If you are looking to shed a few pounds, keep reading to find out how water can help you on your weight loss journey.

    Why is hydration important?


    Good hydration levels are incredibly important to our health. One benefit of hydration is that it helps to prolong energy levels which help you to stay alert, focused and motivated throughout your day. On the other hand, dehydration causes fatigue, making you more lethargic and less likely to want to move around or exercise. Hydration also plays a large role in appearance, as it helps you to to keep your skin clear and reduce signs of aging. 


    We all know hydration is very important to our health, yet rarely do we ever actually drink enough water. On average, we should aim to drink 2 liters of water a day (which is equivalent to about 8 glasses) to stay hydrated.

    Hydration & Weight Loss


    If you are wanting to loose weight, keep in mind the essential role hydration plays in the process of weight loss.


    Without water, it is difficult for your body to eliminate fats and detoxify, which are two essential processes that help your body shed extra weight. Alternatively, good hydration levels help to flush out your system and decrease appetite.


    The next time you are craving an unnecessary snack, drink a glass of water and wait a few minutes to make sure you are actually hungry. Very often this trick will help you to realize you are actually just thirsty!

    Hydration Tips & Tricks


    1. Use a reusable water bottle 

    Reusable water bottles are a great tool to help you stay hydrated on the go. They are also environmentally friendly! 


    2. Build it into your daily routine

    Build a conscious habit of hydration through sticking to a routine of drinking two liters or 8 glasses of water a day.


    3. Drink water before you exercise 

    Make sure to drink water before you exercise to help replace the fluid you loose through sweating.  


    4. Give it some flavor

    Flavor your water with your favorite fresh fruit and herbs! 


    5. Go herbal

    Try swapping out dehydrating caffeinated teas and coffees with herbal teas.
