Pumpkin Spice Protein Puppy Chow
ALL YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE
White chocolate chips: I used Lily's Stevia sweetened white chocolate chips, but you can also use regular.
Almond butter: Can be replaced with peanut butter. Almond butter is sweeter and compliments this recipe.
Pumpkin purée: Only 2 tablespoons to give the whole recipe pumpkin flavor.
Coconut oil: Helps melt the chocolate without burning and sticking to the bowl.
Chex cereal: I used rice Chex, but you can also use corn Chex or any other flavor.
AstroFlav Cinna Crunch IsoMix: Cinna Crunch goes perfect with pumpkin spice for this recipe.
Pumpkin pie spice: Can't have pumpkin pie without the spice!
KITCHEN EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR THIS RECIPE
Microwave safe bowl
Medium-large mixing bowl
Mixing spoon or spatula
Gallon plastic bag (optional)
TIPS FOR CREATING PROTEIN PUPPY CHOW
You can add regular powdered sugar in addition to the protein powder; however, this recipe is less sugar without.
The melted chocolate and almond butter may not look like enough to cover the mixture; however, keep stirring and it will eventually coat all the cereal.
Don’t forget to let them cool completely before storing them. If you don’t they will become a soggy mess!
Storing them in a Ziploc bag or airtight container in the fridge will help them stay fresh and crunchy!
Puppy chow is freezer friendly and can be stored to enjoy later. If you choose to freeze it, don't freeze in a ziplock bag, but instead, a freezer-friendly container.
Pumpkin Spice Protein Puppy Chow
1 cup Lily's Stevia sweetened white chocolate chips
1/2 cup almond butter
2 TBS pumpkin puree
2 tsp coconut oil
6 cups Chex cereal
4 scoops AstroFlav Cinna Crunch protein powder
2 TBS pumpkin pie spice
In a microwave safe bowl, melt white chocolate chips and coconut oil in 30 second intervals or until fully melted.
Add almond butter and pumpkin puree and stir until completely smooth and no chunks are present.
In a large bowl, add in Chex cereal. Pour chocolate and almond butter mixture on top and begin to stir.
Keep stirring until all of the cereal is coated.
In the same bowl (or plastic bag), scoop protein powder and pumpkin pie spice on top of the cereal. Stir until completely covered.
Add additional pumpkin pie spice and white chocolate chips on top for decoration and enjoy!
Rice Chex: Can substitute with corn Chex or any flavor of Chex cereal.
Almond butter: Can substitute with peanut butter or cashew butter.
Cinna Crunch IsoMix: Vanilla IsoMix would taste just as yummy; you may have to add more pumpkin pie spice and add cinnamon.
White chocolate chips: Can sub for milk or semi-sweet. However, I am not sure if this will taste good with the pumpkin puree.
