I have been an athlete my entire life. I played Division 1 Soccer at Rutgers University, however, I would say that there is a vast difference between practicing/playing soccer regularly and organized/structured fitness for performance. It wasn't until heading into my senior year of college that I really needed to take a look in the mirror and figure out a way to elevate my performance to help lead my team to success. Once I started seeing performance results and physical changes, there was no turning back.
Ahhh, specifically for women- that lifting weights will make you bulky. I can promise you, you're not going to work that hard to achieve that. Lifting heavy, lifting fast, and lifting light and quick all have extreme long term health benefits, ESPECIALLY for women. How we can set ourselves up in our 20's and 30's with strength AND conditioning will pay 10 fold in your 50's+. But, we need to have the proper prescriptions for these methods. One is not greater than the other, and being sure you find a coach/trainer/gym that understands the importance of strength AND conditioning is crucial.
Fitness is a non negotiable for me. It allows me to show up as the best version of myself every single day for the people I love, especially myself. I make my workouts the hardest part of my day so everything else in my "busy" life seems manageable. I schedule my entire day around my workout...not the other way around. Fail to plan, plan to fail!
I am a foodie through and through. I always enjoy going out to eat, trying new restaurants and new cuisines. I don't necessarily have a "go to", just usually up for anything that has good company :)
