I got into fitness through sports. I started working out the summer going into 8th grade to prepare for the upcoming football season. From there it just became part of my lifestyle. Fitness really became a main focus for me once I finished sports, I have always used it as an outlet and way to challenge myself and stay competitive.
Fitness doesn't have to be complicated and can only be done in a gym. Everyone is different, from starting ability to their likes & dislikes. Creating a routine that best fits your lifestyle will allow you to stay consistent and really lead to long term goals. A 30 minute walk outside in your neighborhood is just as effective if not better then doing a 30 minute walk at a gym.
The key for me to balancing fitness with a busy life is my routine and the value I place on fitness. I like to call it the 3 pillars of life: family, fitness, and career (in no particular order). These are the pillars I build my life and routine around. From there, it's all about creating and preparing my routine to make it as easy as possible to execute. For example, planning out my days and weeks—what days and times am I working out? What am I doing in each workout? What meals am I eating and when? Preparing each day with intent allows you to execute and, more importantly, feel fulfilled and accomplished as you work toward your goals.
My go to cheat meal right now would be 5 sushi rolls + plus a vanilla blizzard with M&M's and Reese's cups (not at the same time, ice cream follows the sushi).
